A New Branch, A New Chapter
There's something special about becoming part of a new neighborhood. It's the opportunity to meet new faces, learn what matters to the people around you, and build relationships that last.
That's what opening our new Chittenango branch means to GPO.
On Monday, October 19th, we officially opened our doors at 1372 State Route 5 in Chittenango, bringing our member-first approach to banking to even more families, individuals, and businesses throughout Madison County.
While this location is new, the values behind it aren't. Being helpful, treating people with respect, and taking the time to understand their needs have always been part of how we serve our members.
And we're excited to bring that same approach to Chittenango.
A Sweet Start to Something New
Opening day was an opportunity to welcome our neighbors, introduce our team, and celebrate this next chapter together.
We marked the occasion with treats from Sweet Tooth Annie's and coffee from Serendipity Coffee, bringing a little local flavor to the festivities.
Our celebration continued on Wednesday, October 21st, with a ribbon cutting and Business After Hours event alongside the Greater Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce.
These moments are about more than celebrating a new building. They're opportunities to meet the people and businesses who make Chittenango special and embrace the “Chittenango-friendly” spirit of neighbors supporting neighbors.
Growing Means Giving Back, Too
One of the most meaningful parts of joining a community is finding ways to support the people and organizations already making a difference there.
As part of our grand opening celebration, GPO is recognizing two organizations with $1,500 community donations each:
- Clear Path for Veterans: A local organization supporting veterans and their families through programs that encourage connection, wellness, and a sense of belonging.
- CAP of Madison County: An organization working to support individuals and families throughout Madison County through community-based programs and resources.
Both organizations reflect the kind of neighbor-to-neighbor support that helps communities thrive.
For GPO, giving back isn't something separate from banking. It's part of our responsibility as a community credit union, and an important way we hope to build lasting connections throughout Chittenango and the surrounding area.
