Not-For-Profit

We're a member-owned financial cooperative.

GPO Federal Credit Union is a federally insured, member-owned financial cooperative. We exist to serve our members, not to make a profit. Credit Unions do not pay dividends to stockholders. We instead return our earnings to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, fewer fees, and great products and services.

Ownership

Here, you're a member and owner.

Each GPO Member has equal ownership in the credit union, regardless of how much money they have on deposit. At GPO, you are both a member and an owner, and are given the opportunity to vote for, and serve on our volunteer board of directors.

Membership Eligibility

See if you're eligible to become a member.

By current federal statute, credit unions cannot serve the general public. At GPO, people qualify for membership by living, working, attending school, or worshiping in Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida or Otsego counties, or by volunteering within the field of membership. Immediate family or households, organizations, corporations, businesses or other legal entities are eligible for membership.

Education

Financial counseling and seminars through GPO.

GPO is committed to educating our members and our community about money management. GPO also offers one-on-one financial counseling in-person or virtual at no cost. We also offer programs and seminars throughout the year.

GPO's Financial Education

Taxation

Serving the financial needs of our members and community.

Credit unions are exempt from Federal and most state taxes because we are member-owned not-for-profit organizations managed by a volunteer board of directors. We have a mission to serve the financial needs of consumers, especially those of modest means.
