Debt protection may cancel your outstanding loan balance or cancel your monthly payment without penalty or added interest if an unexpected, covered event were to happen.

Definition of Coverages
If you meet eligibility requirements and conditions, debt protection will provide the following benefits:
Death protection helps your family get back on their feet financially with cancellation of loan.
- All plans: Cancels the remaining loan balance as of date of death (up to $75,000 for Consumer Loans and up to $100,000 for Home Equities)
Disability protection cancels your loan payments for a period of time as you regain your health.
- Gold & Silver Plans: Cancels up to 12 payments per occurrence (aggregate maximum of $15,000, up to $1,000 per month)

How to file a Debt Protection Claim
When you need to file a credit insurance or debt protection claim, please alert us of the incident so we can support you and help you with the claims process through Securian Financial. Once you alert us, please file your claim online or through the other methods listed below.
Online claims filing is preferred and faster than filing your claim via paper forms. Please continue making the loan payments until a claim decision is communicated to you.
File Your Claim Online
- Create a secure account with a username and password.
- Select the type of claim you’re reporting.
- Answer questions about your claim.
- Once the claim is received, it will be reviewed, and you will be notified of a decision.
- After your claim is submitted, you can log in any time at securian.com/mycoverage to check on claim status and receive information on payment details.

File Your Claim with Paper Forms
- Contact GPO to generate claims forms
- Fill out the claims form in its entirety.
- Mail or fax claims form to PO Box 64114 St. Paul, MN 55164-0114 or 1-877-494-8401.
- Once the claim is received, it will be reviewed, and you will be notified of a decision.
- After you’ve reported a claim, you can call the claim center for information on claim status or wait for your decision via mail
Information needed for filing a claim:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Date of event
- Cause of event
- Any documentation related to the event
